Insulation

Building insulation conserves energy and saves money. It can also be extremely flammable and support rapid flame spread. Great Lakes offers many flame retardants that enable a variety of insulation types to meet strict flammability criteria.

Market Trends

  • Blowing agent 141b is being phased out globally under the Montreal Protocol limiting ozone depleting chemicals. A consequence is a change in relative pricing of certain classes of polymeric foams.
  • Introduction of a new harmonized EU flammability standard (the SBI test) will also shift market share of insulation types.
