PPE
refers to polyphenylene ehter homopolymer or copolymer. PPE is naturally
compatible with polystyrene. Attributes of PPE/HIPS blends include
high heat distortion temperature, good dimensional stability, retention
of properties at high temperatures and good flame retardancy. PPE/PS
blends can be filled with glass fibers, mineral fillers, or graphite
fibers. These fillers are often used to reduce mold shrinkage PPE/HIPS
blends and alloys are used in a number of applications ranging from
automotive control panels, business machine housings, connectors,
telecommunications equipment, appliances, water immersion products
and medical applications.
