What do you get when you blend various polyolefins together? A softer,
more flexible material called thermoplastic polyolefins or TPOs.
Most of the TPOs are made using antioxidants during processing. The
use of flame retardants with thermoplastic polyolefins is dependent
on legislation requirements.
Polyolefin
physical properties can be enhanced through inclusion of elastomeric
materials through graft or alloying techniques. These maintain the
processability of the polyolefin but enhance flexural and impact
properties.
This family
of materials will have different flame retardant requirements and
load levels than the polyolefins alone.
